What is the Smartson Crowdscore?

Today's products and services are packaged with clear product advantages, symbols and awards, often with a lot of information attached to them. In the shop or web shop, we find information including price, environmental aspirations, content, specifications, product history, the brand itself and contact information for customer service. At the time of purchase in the store, the choice is not very easy.


From editorial to digital revolution

When we founded Smartson we asked ourselves: How can consumers see that a product is good before purchasing it? We started compiling tests and sources from around the world and did our own comparative tests. Our work seemed to be appreciated and soon the tests were carried out on behalf of media houses in Scandinavia. We crowned test winners and best budget choices in a variety of categories. However, we quickly asked ourselves how well the tests were conducted and how strong would a test result be if we replaced one person's voice with 1,000 peoples experiences and reviews? What happens if we let 50 people across the country test drive a car and not the journalist? We coined the concept Sharevertising, were consumers act as test pilots, which turned out to be a great way to “crowdsource” tests.

All this just in time for the digital revolution…

The digital revolution have put the consumer in the driver's seat and companies with bad products or lousy service faces major challanges if they don't change. The power is no longer with the one who buys the most ad space in a newspaper but instead with the consumers. There's always been talk about not so good experiences with brands and products, which is now happening on a different level - if the consumers have the power, should they not be the ones who decide whether a product is good or not? We think so and ask all test pilots the question: Would you recommend this product/service to a friend?

Our vision

Our vision is that Smartson's crowdscore will be as well known among consumers as what Svanen, Euro NCAP and KRAV is. We are continuously working together with our clients brands to increase both awareness and sales with the crowdscore.

Today, in September 2014, over 100 brands have a crowdscore for their products and every week more follow. When it comes to the consumer recommendation factor, we are humbled by all test pilots commitment and proud of all the thousands of consumers who apply every week.
