Smartson started the new year with a re-launched service and is gearing up for a year of expansion. The company's CEO, Karl Händel, sees the meeting between brands and consumers as the corner stone in recommendation marketing. Now the service will increase further in order to spread sharevertising more effectively.
- Smartson as a service celebrates 15 years and we want to celebrate by releasing our best version to our users and clients. Today we are one of Scandinavia's most interesting sites for brands and consumers. In 2015, we also move into the Netherlands with our first campaign for Nestlé.
Own development highlights innovation
The entire re-launch was done by Smartson's own developers and designers. Fredrik Westermarck, CTO at Smartson, can see the strength in doing something like this in-house.
- In connection with the re-launch, the website is now released in 5 editions for both mobile and desktop - Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands local editions are all linked to the same node which strengthens the multilingual work we do. To implement everything in-house gives the service a durability and my colleagues Jonny Jonasson and Anders Linder are two important cogs in that work.

Jonny Jonasson, Head of Design, sees the re-launch as key to the continued work on an already strong foundation.
- During the work on the new website, it was the meeting between test pilots and our client's products that were in focus. You only have a few seconds to capture the attention and then the presentation needs to be crystal clear, whether you're browsing on a desktop or a mobile device. One example of this is that the pictures and videos now are edge to edge of the page, which creates a stronger impression. Some information have also been hidden behind expanding buttons for a cleaner look. We look forward to continue working on this together with our clients and users to make an even better site.
New features launched
In conjunction with the launch of the new website, some clever features have been added to be able to spread the recommendations even better.
- We've created better features for the search engines to highlight the test pilots' recommendations, and we are now testing a new function for social walls where user generated content is highlighted from various social media, says Anders Linder, Technical Operations Manager.
