Why consumers engage as co-creators

We feel very proud when we read all the great reviews from our customers, but the biggest heroes are of course our co-creators (test pilots). Without their engagement, content creation and honest opinions, we would not be able to carry out our work. We were of course curious as to how they perceive us and Social Recommendation Marketing to offer the best service – for everyone. Our recent YouGov study shows that awareness is increasing – 38% of the adult population know of Smartson. We followed up that survey with over 7,000 of our followers which helped us gain a greater understanding of how it works to participate as co-creators with us.

Why become a test pilot?

We currently have around 264,000 subscribers to our newsletter and more than 123,000 followers through social media, but how come the interest in becoming a test pilot is so great? The vast majority say that it is a great way to keep updated on new products and services and to test new products before others which makes the news value the biggest attraction.

Our tests are very popular, and unfortunately we are not always able to give everyone the chance to participate. It’s obviously disappointing not to be selected, but many who follow us also take advantage of other people’s reviews and experiences which we think is great!

Smartson’s crowdscore credibility

It’s been reported by our clients and in the YouGov study that Smartson’s crowdscore leads to more purchases – but what to the consumers think? Over half of those surveyed say they bought a product based on a recommendation from Smartson despite not being one of the test pilots themselves – 83 percent thinks such a recommendation has high credibility.

We often get asked the question what essentially a good crowdscore is - does a product need 100 percent positive recommendations to convince the consumer that it’s good? No, that’s not the case. Only 10 percent of the respondents require 100 percent recommendation – 80 percent is the magic number.

Our users

Among the test applicants are people born in the 30’s to the 00s. Facebook is still the social media channel where most are active, followed by Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Snapchat. Do you have something new on the market and want to get consumers to discover it? We have a bunch of experts waiting to hear from you – book an appointment and we’ll tell you more!

And oh – 95 percent would recommend Smartson to a friend.
